Lono aims to:
- Provide food through installing organic vegetable gardens wherever possible.
- Reduce global warming by installing rooftop gardens and greening anything concrete.
- Provide alternative transportation solutions through LEAF .
- Markets environmentalism to make it "coole" to be "green" through environmental adventure films and more viral and mainstream campaigns to come.
- Seeks to provide full service Localized Sustainable Abundance Systems in homes across the country and world (i.e. making homes sefl sustainable).
Lono currently works out of Hawaii and Ohio. In Hawaii we are installing and maintaining gardens, restoring hillsides, and replacing invasive special with native species. We also run the Lono Grease Summit with a large following of veggie car drivers. We are also finishing up editing our environmental adventure film, Rain of the Furies.
More importantly that anything else in this proposal, is the fact that we believe in alternative fuel, specifically the concept of using other peoples waste as a fuel source. Since we have been driving a veggie-powered car, we will never go back. We believe in it and we want to encourage Columbus to go green. Bottom line, we still believe driving less is ultimately best, but if you have to drive, use grease or biodiesel.
